Hygiene and routine cleaningsOur hygienists utilize the latest techniques, equipment and knowledge to provide you with excellent preventative dental care. Our hygiene team works diligently to improve your dental hygiene, prevent periodontal disease (gum disease) and increase the longevity of your teeth. After determining a patient’s individual needs, regular appointments with our hygienists are essential for maintaining beautiful teeth and healthy gums. Treating periodontal disease (Gum disease)Periodontal bacteria can enter the blood stream and travel to major organs and cause new infections. Research is strongly suggesting that this may contribute to heart disease, respiratory disease, stroke; preterm, low birth weight babies, diabetes, osteoporosis and even Alzheimer’s. Our hygienists specialize in treating periodontal disease by removing the harmful bacteria by scaling and root planning, using antimicrobial medicaments and special antibiotic micro-spheres gently placed in the infected tissue. Vizilite® Oral Cancer ScreeningVizilite is a simple test that Dr. Nichols recommends to detect abnormal changes in the mouth. It is as easy as rinsing your mouth with a pleasant tasting rinse and having your mouth examined under a special light. Please click on Tour Our Office Video to see this demonstrated on a patient.

The gel is made from carbamide peroxide and worn for one hour a day or over night, depending on the strength of the gel, for about two weeks. Patients usually notice results after the very first application. Dr. Nichols does not recommend laser or in-office one hour bleaching as this can cause teeth to become brittle and very sensitive. She believes tray bleaching is more effective, safer and less expensive.
BondingDisfigured teeth can now be restored in a single office visit. Restorative materials are adhered directly to the teeth, there-fore this technique is most commonly referred to as bonding.
High quality materials that improve adhesion and require less invasive tooth preparation techniques have led to longer lasting and more esthetically pleasing restorations. New materials that adhere to the teeth, contain no mercury and essentially wear at the same rate as ‘silver fillings’ are considered ‘State-of-the-Art' and the new standard in dentistry.
VeneersVeneers can perfect your smile by straightening crooked teeth, closing spaces between teeth, whitening badly stained teeth, hiding chips, and creating uniformity. Veneers which are made of thin, customized porcelain look incredibly natural and can dramatically improve your smile in just two visits.
Crowns and bridgesCrowns, also called caps, are natural- looking covers that fit snugly over teeth to conceal cracked, badly discolored, injured, or chipped teeth. A crown protects a tooth that has insufficient structure to hold a filling. They are esthetic and durable, while making teeth more resistant to injury. We usually make them from semi-precious or precious metals and porcelain. They are permanently cemented on the teeth. A bridge is a device that holds custom-made teeth and has anchors which attach neighboring teeth. Bridges can replace missing teeth. They literally bridge gaps between teeth by filling them with strong, natural- looking artificial teeth. Bridges are permanently cemented in the mouth and are made from the same materials as crowns. ImplantsImplants are used to replace one or more missing teeth. Titanium posts are imbedded beneath the gum, preferably by an oral surgeon or periodontist. The titanium post acts as the root of the tooth. Over time, the titanium integrates with the surrounding bone and acts as a structure on which replacement teeth are mounted. Because implants fuse to the bone, they can provide an excellent and permanent support for bridges, individual crowns, or even full dentures. Dr. Nichols fabricates the replacement teeth that go over the titanium post. She has taken extensive continuing education courses over the past twenty years and works closely with carefully selected and highly trained surgeons to create beautiful and durable implant restorations. Full DenturesDentures are a good option for people who have lost all their teeth. Precisely designed and molded to fit one’s mouth, full dentures allow for improved chewing and keep the mouth and its surrounding facial features in proper alignment. Dentures can last for years and are much more discreet than they were even a few years ago. It will be our secret!
