How smoking affects your teeth

We have all seen the commercials and advertisements on how smoking can affect ourhealth.  According to the Academy of General  Dentistry , smoking  a pack of cigarettes a day can lead to the loss of two teeth every ten years. Studies have shown smokers are, twice as  likely  to lose their teeth than non-smokers. Many are wondering how this happens. Smoking contributes to plaque build-up on the teeth leading to tarter build-up causing gingivitis. Once this happens,  periodontal disease sets in causing your gums to recede, your teeth to become loose and eventually fall out. You don’t have to be a statistic, by regularly brushing, flossing and stopping the use of tobacco you can get your mouthback into shape! Not only will you be saving money but you will be saving the longevity of your teeth.
