Chicago, IL. (June 29, 2013)—-The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is pleased to announce that Sophia Nichols, D.M.D., M.A.G.D., P.A., of Brick, New Jersey, received the association’s Mastership Award during the AGD 2013 Annual Meeting & Exhibits, held from June 27 to 30 in Nashville, Tenn.

The Mastership Award is the highest AGD honor available and one of the most respected designations within the profession. To earn this award, Dr. Sophia Nichols completed 1,100 hours of continuing dental education that included 400 hours of hands-on-courses as well as a comprehensive written examination.

As a Mastership Award recipient, Dr. Nichols joins about 2,300 active AGD Masters who have gone above and beyond the basic requirements to care for their patients’ oral health. Less than six percent of all general dentists practicing in the United States and Canada are part of this distinct group of Mastership Award recipients. “We are proud to honor Dr. Sophia Nichols for her commitment to continuing education in her quest to provide quality dental care and oral health education to her patients,” says AGD President Linda J. Edgar, DDS, Med, MAGD. “It’s a remarkable accomplishment.”

Dr. Nichols received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine Degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and has been serving the Ocean/Monmouth County area for over twenty years. Her practice is located in Brick, New Jersey.
