The Academy of General Dentistry conducted an online poll of 289 general dentists that confirmed men are less likely to visit the dentist than women. The response of less than half of the men was that they did not see the need to visit the dentist, some were afraid or embarrassed while the rest of the men said they just don’t have the time. Lately though it seems more and more men have been visiting the dentist. The surprising reason is that with lay-offs and companies closing many middle age men are finding themselves competing for jobs with younger men, making their appearance a very important factor in their life. We are very happy to see men taking such an interest in their appearance. We hope that men will continue to see the importance of properly maintaining their teeth and the necessity of biannual checkups a key in improving on the way they look and feel.
